How do you ship?
We ship our plants using FedEx Ground and USPS. We choose which one to use depending on transit times. We ship the plants in their containers with the soil. We take extreme care in how we pack the boxes to protect the plants as well as possible during shipment. Unfortunately, due to strict agricultural laws, we have to ship the plants bare root to the following states; Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Kansas, Idaho, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah and Washington.
When do you ship?
We ship year round due to the fact that our plants are grown in containers. The plants are dormant from mid-October through March but actively growing the rest of the year. Unless we are told otherwise, we will ship your order within a week from being received. If we receive your order early in the week, you should receive it the same week.
When Will I Receive My Order?
We ship most orders within a week of receipt depending on the date received. Orders outside of the Northeast will ship on Monday and Tuesday to ensure the order is delivered the same week. Orders in the Northeast, or just outside, can ship Monday-Thursday and still be delivered the same week. We want you to receive your order as soon as possible and do our best to achieve this. You can tell us in the order comments if there is a specific ship/delivery date needed.
What do you charge for shipping?
This has been a sensitive topic around here. Amazon and other large retailers have clouded our reality on how much things cost to ship. We are shipping the soil and therefore our shipping costs reflect what you receive. We have done extensive research and decided to divide the country up to 4 zones as it is the distance that adds the most to the shipping charges. Click here to see our shipping charges. We do not profit on the shipping in anyway but rather try to break even as much as possible so that our prices can stay low.
Can I pickup my order?
Yes! If you place an order online you can choose Customer Pickup as your shipping method during checkout. Leave a message in the comment box with the date that you would like to pickup your order and we will have your order ready. You can also choose to pick your own plants out when you are here.
Do you ship internationally?
We have done it in the past, but it does depend on where you live as there are different rules for different countries. It is expensive to ship outside the U.S.A. due to agricultural laws and shipping, but some people are willing to pay to get those special hostas! Please contact us via e-mail and we will let you know if shipping to you is possible.
What is your guarantee?
We guarantee our plants to arrive in good, healthy condition and to be properly labeled. Your satisfaction is our goal so that you will continue to order from us and recommend us. If for any reason you are not satisfied, return your purchase to us within 30 days and we will refund the purchase price.
Bottom line, if it was our fault, please let us know within 30 days and we will correct it to your satisfaction. We cannot be responsible after 30 days due to the plants being subjected to conditions out of our control.
What are your business hours?
We ship year round and you will receive a response to an e-mail year round. We are open to walk-in customers Thursday through Saturday 9AM to 5PM from mid-April until mid-October.
Do you have a paper catalog?
We do not have a paper catalog at this time. Our website is an up to the second active inventory. With the inventory changing so rapidly we do not see the usefulness of a paper catalog.
